Due to the current situation with COVID-19 (corona virus), Blackwell Animal Hospital will be making a few changes to ensure safety for our customers and employees. We will no longer be taking walk in appointments, to ensure our lobby is not overwhelmed with people.

We will still be taking appointments, and ask that you arrive at your appointment time to keep lobby traffic slow. If you have an appointment and are unable to make it, please let us know! 580-363-1502

Also we are requesting if you have a fever or feel sick to stay home, even for minor things like toenail trims. If you feel you have an emergency please don’t hesitate to call us and we will determine if your pet needs to be seen.

If you are more comfortable to stay in your vehicle than enter the building, please feel free to call us when you arrive and a technician will come outside to your vehicle.

At this time there is no evidence to show animals are carriers or transmitters of the disease. Per CDC website: “The CDC does not have evidence to suggest that imported animals or animal products pose a risk for spreading COVID-19 in the United States.

If you are sick with COVID-19 (either suspected or confirmed), you should restrict contact with pets and other animals, just like you would around other people. Although there have not been reports of pets or other animals becoming sick with COVID-19, it is still recommended that people sick with COVID-19 limit contact with animals until more information is known about the virus. This can help ensure both you and your animals stay healthy.

When possible, have another member of your household care for your animals while you are sick. Avoid contact with your pet including, petting, snuggling, being kissed or licked, and sharing food. If you must care for your pet or be around animals while you are sick, wash your hands before and after you interact with them.”

This is still a developing situation, and as we know more will let you know. We greatly appreciate everyone’s cooperation during this time!
